About Us
Dr. James R. Sawyers began managing the East Boston, South Boston and Revere Pet Clinics in 1980, purchased them in 1987 starting Boston Veterinary Associates, Inc. and transformed them from out-patient clinics to full service in-patient hospitals.
In 2004, Dr. Sawyers closed both the Revere and East Boston Animal Clinics and incorporated them into one full service hospital, where we are located today, complete with a surgical suite, X-Ray facility and on site diagnostic laboratory.
In 2006, with the closing of the Chelsea Animal Clinic, Dr. Turner Lewis entrusted his patients to the care of Dr. Sawyers adding the Chelsea Animal Clinic patients to the East Boston Animal Hospital family.
On March 1, 2008 we said goodbye to our sister hospital, the South Boston Animal Hospital, when it was purchased by Dr. Natalie Waggener, South Boston Animal Hospital's primary veterinarian.
Dr. Sawyers has raised the general practice veterinary clinic to a family practice with modern technology while still keeping the same neighborhood feel that we have prided ourselves on since 1984.
